For over forty years the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA Vermont) has been working to help our growing number of organic and non-GE farmer members succeed by providing them with technical education and support, as well as certification services.
Their continued success depends on protecting and maintaining the integrity of the organic and non-GE products they produce and sell. But genetic contamination of seed-stocks and crops by the steadily expanding number and variety of genetically engineered crops is a growing concern and a threat to our farmers’ livelihoods.
Not only does it threaten their markets, but Monsanto’s documented tactics of intimidation and legal action against innocent farmers whose crops have been contaminated makes it critical that farmers, consumers and food-system advocates everywhere do what they can to oppose these injustices.
